Decorate Me: Carousel Horse & Christmas Tree Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

J&LA: Since all the good "Christmas trees" have now been cut to well over head high, we've decided to let this one go. Perhaps we'll use the info on these 2 headstones for a new hide, but that'll be some other time.

Geocache Description:

Online "found it" logs that do not have a corresponding name on the physical logbook will be deleted.

Access to this cemetery is from dawn to dusk. Please be respectful of graves & mourners.

We found this Christmas tree in July while in the area checking another cache. It was clear this evergreen had once been filled with lots of ornaments, but by now most of them had fallen, broken, or had simply gone missing. It looked pathetic. Once we discovered there was a 1 yr old buried not too far away & a 5 yr old with her own carousel horse built into her gravestone uphill to the east (you can't miss it), we decided to do something about it. We spent about 90 minutes cleaning up the area, re-wiring many of the ornaments, & removing the broken ones, then hid a shiny new cache amidst the VERY pokey needles. You can simply add your name to the log OR you can additionally participate in the activity below.

Decorate the tree challenge: We plan to bring more ornaments to add when we come to check the cache, so we'd LOVE if you could join us by bringing 1 or more weather-resistant decorations of any kind (doesn't specifically have to be Christmas) to leave behind as well when you come here to sign the log or happen to be driving by. This is optional. After a number of visitors have logged this, we're hoping to upload a photo showing how much it has improved, especially since there are several young children buried in this area. We'd like to capture the essence of childhood & family by making their tree beautiful again.
