ArcherFish
are the sharpshooters of the animal world, capable of hitting prey from metres away with pinpoint accuracy. The archerfish inhabits shallow water across much of tropical Asia and Northern Australia. Unlike most fish, archerfish have a unique hunting method. Feeding on insects, these fish choose a target perched above the water, take aim, and then spit a jet of water at the hapless bug. If the shot strikes home, the insect falls into the water where the fish can easily capture it. They can bring down insects and other prey up to 3 m above the water's surface. They are persistent and will make multiple shots if the first one fails. They are a smaller fish and grow to an average size of 20 centimetres in length and are popular fish for aquariums.
