John A. Latsch State Park – Winona County, MN
 

The Great River Road is one of my favorite drives in the entire country. As a Minnesotan, I'm very proud of our state's scenic byways. As such, I feel it is only appropriate to replace an old archived cache at one of my favorite scenic overlooks. This one gives you a great view of the Great Mississippi River and its protected waterways and islands within the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife Refuge. There are very informative signs and brochures you can check out. Have fun!

 

To the travelers of the Great River Road:

  • If you're heading north, welcome to our great North Star State - as you go, the river will soon start gradually shrinking until its headwaters at Lake Itasca. Enjoy it while it lasts!
  • If you're heading south, I hope you enjoyed your stay. There are many more great things to come. Good luck!
