この辺りは鴻巣市八幡田（はちまんでん）と言い、昔は殆どが田畑や桑畑でした。
昭和中頃撮られたこの辺りの写真が残っています。
一つは、鬱蒼と生い茂った農家の屋敷林ですが、これらは今でも残っており、この公園の東側に見えています。
もう一つは、ワインの広告塔です。熊谷まで14kmと書いてあります。
左奥に写っている高崎線から見えるように建てられています。現在では、工場や家屋が建ち並んでおり、ここから高崎線を直接見ることはできません。
This area is called Hachimanden, Kounosu City and used to be mostly rice fields and mulberry fields. There are still some photos of this area taken in the middle of Showa era. One is a dense Yashikirin(forest of farm houses), which still remains and can be seen to the east of the park. The other is a billboard for Wine. It says 14km to Kumagaya. It was built so that it could be seen from the Takasaki line in the background. Nowadays, the Takasaki Line cannot be seen directly from here, as there are many factories and houses.
