Geocache Description:

Hello, my name is Skessa. This is Icelandic and means "troll woman". I was named after Skessudrangar, the stack that stands alone at the Reynisdrangar rocks. Legend says that the stacks originated when two trolls dragged a three-masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock.

Well, I was born here on June 11th, 2011 at the southernmost farm in Iceland, just some metres away from the beautiful black beach. You can still see the little stone cottage not far from the parking lot, where I often played with my sister and my mum. In August, Helen Dares stayed in this cottage for some days and we quickly became friends. When she had to leave, I wanted to come with her and so she took me on a flight to Germany.

Now I live in the beautiful Bavarian Forest and I really love it there. But sometimes, when I hear seagulls on TV, I get a bit homesick. Therefore, Helen promised me to place a cache near the beach next time she would get here. So she did and now I can always receive some greetings from my home.

She did not place the cache directly at the beach because it is often full with muggles. So you must walk up Reynisfjall and it is about 3 km from the parking spot to the cache. From up there, you have a beautiful look to Dyrhólaey in the west and to Vík in the east. If you dare to walk close to the cliffs in the south, you can even see Reynisdrangar. But please be careful and do not go too far!
