Warning: You must cross a river to reach this cache, see below for more info
Mass Rocks were used in Ireland during the 17th century. They served as locations to hold Catholic Mass. At the time Catholic activities were difficult and dangerous to hold because of the Penal Laws. Remote locations were found where illegal Masses could take place in secret away from the British authorities. This particular mass rock is located on Round Hill and it's location shows how far Catholic people were willing to go to attend mass.
The Cache:
From the trailhead follow the track until you get to the river. You will have to cross the river to continue. If it has been raining a lot you will need to go barefoot or get your shoes wet when crossing (it will only be ankle deep at worst). If it has been relatively dry you will probably be able to hop across the rocks above the water. Once across the river you can head straight for the mass rock using the app. There isn't a particular path past this point towards the cache so you'll have to make your own way there. It could be marshy land once you cross the river, so have waterproof footwear if possible or bring a spare pair of shoes in the car. Also, during the summer months there may be a lot of ferns around the mass rock. Good luck!
