  Inden vi tager turen jorden rundt, så er det rart at have lidt information omkring de forskellige verdensdele, som vi skal rundt til. 

Asien er jordens største og mest folkerige kontinent, primært placeret på den østlige og nordlige halvkugle. Det deler den kontinentale landmasse Eurasien med Europa og den kontinentale landmasse Afro-Eurasien med både Europa og Afrika. Det dækker 9% af Jordens samlede overfladeareal (eller 30% af land arealet) og har den længste kystlinje på 62.800 kilometer. Asien afgrænses mod øst af Stillehavet, i syd af Det Indiske Ocean og i nord af Det Arktiske Ocean.

Asien har ekstremt forskellige klimaforhold. Klimaet spænder fra arktisk og subarktisk i Sibirien til tropisk i det sydlige Indien og Sydøstasien. Det er fugtigt i den sydøstlige del og tørt i store dele af det centrale Asien. Nogle af de største daglige temperaturudsving på Jorden forekommer i de vestlige dele af Asien. De sydvestlige dele af kontinentet er varmt. Sibirien er et af de koldeste steder på den nordlige halvkugle og kan fungere som en kilde til arktiske luftmasser for Nordamerika. Det mest aktive sted på Jorden for tropisk cyklonaktivitet ligger nordøst for Filippinerne og syd for Japan.

Asia is the largest and most populous continent on the earth, located primarily in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. It shares the continental landmass of Eurasia with the continent of Europe and the continental landmass of Afro-Eurasia with both Europe and Africa. It covers 9% of the Earth's total surface area (or 30% of its land area), and has the longest coastline, at 62,800 kilometers. In general terms, Asia is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean, and on the north by the Arctic Ocean.

Asia has extremely diverse climate features. Climates range from arctic and subarctic in Siberia to tropical in southern India and Southeast Asia. It is moist across southeast sections, and dry across much of the interior. Some of the largest daily temperature ranges on Earth occur in western sections of Asia. Southwestern sections of the continent are hot. Siberia is one of the coldest places in the Northern Hemisphere and can act as a source of arctic air masses for North America. The most active place on Earth for tropical cyclone activity lies northeast of the Philippines and south of Japan.
