Not far from the Bosnian-Croatian border, in the embrace of wild romantic hills, lies the naming settlement of the Zrínyi family, Zrin (Zríny), which plays an important role in Hungarian and Croatian history. Zríny Castle was built in the late 13th century. Its first owners were the Babonics. The ancestors of the Zrínyi family, the Subics of Bribir, Croatia, received the castle from Lajos Nagy in 1347 in exchange for their services to the king. After the transfer of its seat to Zríny Castle, the Croatian György Subics called himself Zrínyi instead of Subics. The move was not accidental, as in addition to Zríny lying along important trade routes, there were also silver, zinc and lead deposits in the area. Not long after, Zríny took control of the areas up to the Una River. Zrínyi IV was born here in 1508. Miklós is Croatian. The first major siege of the castle was in 1539, but at that time it was still unsuccessfully besieged by the Turks. After the fall of the hero of Szigetivár, in 1577, Ferhát and the army of the Bosnian pasha acquired the castle without much resistance. For tactical reasons, the Imperial Captain Dornberg abandoned the castle without a fight and marched into Gradac's fortress. After the Turkish rule, Zríny in the 19th century. It came to the fore at the end of the 18th century, when in 1883 a book about the Zrínyi castle was published entitled Zrin grad i njegovi gospodari. After centuries of destruction, a partial renovation of the castle began in 2000. By 2016, the walls around the entrance were renovated, and a memorial plaque was inaugurated on the 450th anniversary of the death of the Turkish beater Miklós Zrínyi.
