El Hotel Stella Canaris fue construido en la década de 1970 por el iraní Hossein Sabet Baktash, quien anteriormente acumuló una fortuna considerable como el mayor importador de alfombras orientales en Alemania. Toda la instalación tiene 500.000 metros cuadrados e incluye 20.000 palmeras. Los numerosos hoteles y bungalows comprendían 1175 unidades residenciales. En 2003, el propietario vendió Stellar Canaris al Grupo Dunas, que sin embargo tuvo que declararse en quiebra en 2011. El antiguo propietario volvió a comprar la instalación y la mantuvo hasta 2013. Stella Canaris se cerró en 2013 debido a facturas impagas y un cargo de evasión fiscal.
El grupo alemán FTI adquirió la propiedad en 2016 y recibió los permisos de construcción necesarios para la renovación en 2019. Sin embargo, las quiebras de Air Berlin, Germanwings, Thomas Cook y el declive del turismo, así como la reciente pandemia, hicieron que se detuvieran las obras de construcción.

Das Hotel Stella Canaris wurde in den 1970er Jahren vom Iraner Hossein Sabet Baktash errichtet, welcher zuvor ein beträchtliche Vermögen als größter Importeur von Orientteppichen in Deutschland ansammelte. Die gesamte Anlage ist 500000 qm groß und umfasst 20000 Palmen. Die zahlreichen Hotels und Bungalows umfassten 1175 Wohneinheiten. Im Jahr 2003 verkaufte der Eigentümer die Stellar Canaris an die Dunas Gruppe, welche jedoch im Jahr 2011 Insolvenz anmelden musste. Der ehemalige Eigentümer kaufte die Anlage zurück und unterhielt sie bis zum Jahr 2013. Auf Grund unbezahlter Rechnungen und einer Anklage wegen Steuerhinterziehung wurde die Stella Canaris 2013 geschlossen.
Im Jahr 2016 erwarb die deutsche FTI Gruppe das Anwesen und erhielt 2019 die notwendigen Baugenehmigungen für die Renovierung. Die Pleiten von Air Berlin, Germanwings, Thomas Cook und der Rückgang des Tourismus sowie die zuletzt eingetretene Pandemie führten jedoch zu einem Stopp der Baumaßnahmen.
Der Cache befindet sich nicht auf dem Gelände der Stellar Canaris. Dieses wird auch rund un die Uhr von einem Wachdienst geschützt. Das Gelände muss für den Cache nicht betreten werden.
The Hotel Stella Canaris was built in the 1970s by the Iranian Hossein Sabet Baktash, who previously accumulated a considerable fortune as the largest importer of oriental carpets in Germany. The entire facility is 500,000 square meters and includes 20,000 palm trees. The numerous hotels and bungalows comprised 1175 residential units. In 2003 the owner sold Stellar Canaris to the Dunas Group, which however had to file for bankruptcy in 2011. The former owner bought the facility back and maintained it until 2013. The Stella Canaris was closed in 2013 due to unpaid bills and a charge of tax evasion.
The German FTI Group acquired the property in 2016 and received the necessary building permits for the renovation in 2019. However, the bankruptcies of Air Berlin, Germanwings, Thomas Cook and the decline in tourism as well as the recent pandemic led to construction work being halted.
The cache is not located on the Stellar Canaris site. This is also protected by a security service around the clock. The site does not have to be entered for the cache.
