CITO ("Cache In, Trash Out") events are a chance for Geocachers to make a positive contribution to the effort of keeping our world beautiful, safe and as they should be. We often make use of this rich landscape as we hide and seek our caches but this gives us a chance to do more.
While many events are purely litter picking, today there are a number of tasks that need doing, so this is a different sort of CITO. When we've done a couple of hours of work we can picnic in the park, weather permitting! Anyone who wants to stay longer is more than welcome to do so!
Today's Activities
Today's main task is path repair. The surface easily becomes eroded and some steps are also in need of repair. If this doesn't sound ike your 'thing' then there's also opportunity to contribute in the following waya:
- Bramble clearance (please bring gloves and secateurs
- Litter picking- bring gloves and a litter picker, if you have one
Please could everyone please come equipped with the following:
- Suitable footwear and clothing (the ground here is uneven)
- Gloves
- A drink or snack and your lunch!
- Gardening tools as appropriate
I will provide:
- Bin liners
- Antibacterial hand gel
Liquorice Park is a community open space run by volunteers and includes a community garden, sculpture, a variety of habitats, a performance area and has stunning views of the West end of the city and beyond. This event is held with the permission and encouragement of the Trustees and volunteers. For more information follow this link.
Children are welcome to take part but should be supervised by a responsible adult AT ALL TIMES. Dogs are welcome too but should be kept on a lead. (Dogs can also take part by encouraging their owners to take away any poop they leave!) Everyone takes part at their own risk, although accidents and incidents are unlikely if we're careful and sensible. There is a log book to sign if you wish.
Please note: there is limited parking on Carline Road near the coordinates. Please car-share where possible.
