A gentle trek into the wilderness that is suitable for explorers of all ages, our destination is a solitary place with a brief but curious history.

Although less than 200 years old, the precise reason why ironmaster and landowner John Knight built Pinkery Pond has become a mystery. Thought to be part of a mad-cap scheme to transport copper ore from the high moor to porlock, the earthbank dam an beautiful reservoir have now matured to become almost indistinguishable from the surrounding landscape.
From the free roadside parking follow the track North, past Pinkery Farm and on into the wilderness. At the end of a tiny valley you will suddenly become aware of the dam, beyond which is a little gem of a reservoir.
