The Catalpa is a flowering tree native to North America, the Caribbean, and East Asia. They are deciduous softwoods, which typically grow to 40-60 feet in height, with a diameter of 20-40 feet. Leaves are large, heart-shaped, and dense. Showy white to yellow flowers appear in early to mid-summer, with fruit appearing in late summer to autumn. These give the tree its nickname, Indian Bean Tree. Pods are 8-20 inches in length, with the appearance of extra-long green beans.
