Koks dižkoka statusu iegūst, sasniedzot vienu no diviem kritērijiem – apkārtmēru vai augstumu. Sastopot savā ceļā koku, kurš šķiet lielāks, kā parasti redzēti šīs sugas koki, ir vērts to nomērīt. Vai zini, kā to izdarīt? Dižkoka resnumu mēra 1,3 m augstumā no zemes. Ja noderēs pamācība, meklē to šeit.
Dotajā lokācijā atradīsi virs “Zvārtes iezis” noslēptu rulli, kurā būs metramērs (ja neatrodi, dodies uz apmeklētāju centru). Dodies uz “Raganu riņķi”, kur atradīsi īpašu ozolu, kura pakājē aug lielas un mazas sēnes, veidojot micēlija riņķus. Kad esi nonācis pie varenā ozola, nomēri tā apkārtmēru 1,3 m augstumā. The Forest Trail leads through some of the most forested areas of Latvia. In many places, you can see various species of venerable trees and trees associated with historical events and stories. More than 11 500 venerable trees are registered in Latvia in 2021. They are witnesses of antiquity and, depending on the tree species, can be as old as 300-500 years. A tree achieves the status of a venerable tree when it meets one of two criteria: circumference or height. If you come across a tree that seems larger than those you usually see, it is worth measuring it. Do you know how it is done? The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
