Geocache Description:

There are plenty of caches along the Des Plaines River in this area, but until recently, most have been accessible only by kayak or canoe. There were precious few along the trail for those who wish to geocache on foot or by bike. This cache is part of a new-ish series of DPRT caches to remedy that situation (this is our fourth cache in this series, and it joins two other nearby caches close to Adler Park).

Keeping with our tradition of hiding family-friendly caches, most of which get people out into the woods, we deliberately sought out places that are not too far off the trail and don't require difficult bushwhacking. We tried to avoid poison ivy, heavy undergrowth and thorns. And they are fairly easy to find.

Looking for a spot to add to our little DPRT series, we stumbled across this really interesting example of extreme measures being taken to reinforce nature and just had to share it. See if it surprises you as it did us.

The cache is a plastic container, about the size of a film canister, located only about five feet off the trail. Happy hunting!

Congrats to ruaufo1 for the FTF!
