Monte Baldo
Passo del Camino
Mentre solo gli scalatori attrezzati ed esperti possono cimentarsi con la vicina “Ferrata delle Taccole” (GC3N1XN), per il “normale” escursionista proveniente da Sud, il Passo del Camino è il passaggio obbligato per raggiungere il Rifugio Gaetano Barana al Telegrafo (GC1E62M).
Raggiungibile attraverso almeno sei diversi sentieri che infine qui convergono e lungo i quali si può ammirare in ogni stagione il variegato susseguirsi di flora e fauna spontanee, taccole comprese, il Passo del Camino rappresenta anche un vero e proprio punto di passaggio paesaggistico: si passa infatti dall’ambiente più dolce e prevalentemente prativo del versante occidentale che si tuffa nel Lago di Garda, a quello più decisamente alpino a fondo roccioso, con i resti di circhi glaciali, guglie dolomitiche e ripidi precipizi che svettano sulla Val d’Adige e sull’altopiano della Lessinia un po’ più in là a Est.
Tutto quanto sopra rappresenta in sintesi un iconema del Monte Baldo che culmina letteralmente con la salita a Cima Telegrafo, la vetta veronese per eccellenza, distante appena 30 minuti ca.
Soprattutto in presenza di neve sconsiglio l'ascesa in Inverno che è a vostro rischio e pericolo perché richiede decisamente molta più attenzione a causa di possibili accumuli, pericolose cornici o estesi lastroni di ghiaccio; inoltre in cresta è spesso presente la nebbia che può causare difficoltà di orientamento.

While only equipped and expert climbers can try their hand at the nearby "Ferrata delle Taccole" (GC3N1XN), for the "normal" hiker coming from the South, the Camino (Chimney) Pass is the obligatory passage to reach the Gaetano Barana al Telegrafo Refuge (GC1E62M ).
Reachable through at least six different paths that finally converge here and along which you can admire the varied succession of spontaneous flora and fauna in every season, taccole (crows) included, the Passo del Camino also represents a real landscape crossing point: in fact you pass from the gentler and mainly grassy environment of the western slope that plunges into Lake Garda, to the more decidedly alpine one with a rocky bottom, with the remains of glacial cirques, Dolomite peaks and steep precipices that rise above the Val d'Adige and the Lessinia plateau a little further East.
All of the above represents in summary an iconeme of Monte Baldo that literally culminates with the ascent to Cima Telegrafo, the Veronese peak par excellence, just about 30 minutes away.
Especially in the presence of snow I advise against the ascent in Winter that is at your own risk because it requires much more attention due to possible accumulations, dangerous cornices or large ice floes; furthermore, fog is often present on the crest which can cause orientation difficulties.
