When I was a lad this park did not exist in its current state. I used to play with my friends between here and Ocbrook at the abandoned Army camp. There wasn't much of the camp left, apart from a few concrete frames and bases but we still liked to pretend we were in the Army. These days the area is well managed farmland and a recreation park. You can walk the old camp on my Spondon to Ockbrook Series although there is nothing left to see.
