The River Monnow
The River Monnow marks the Engalnd-Wales border for much of its 42 miles (68 km) length. After flowing through southwest Herefordshire, England, and eastern Monmouthshire, Wales, its confluence with the River Wye is approximately 1⁄3 mile (0.54 km) south of Monmouth.
Hydroelectric Power
At Osbaston, immediately north of Monmouth, the Monmouth New Hydro Scheme harnesses the flow of the Monnow to provide 670,000 kWh of electricity per year. The Osbaston fish pass facilitates the passage of river-spawning fishand other species past what would otherwise be an obstruction. There is a cache there at the Archimedes screw placed by my brother but it is temporarily disabled currently because it went missing. It will definitely be back soon for sure.
