This cache is one of a series of hides for The Laurie Event. This event is being held to honor legendary cacher and reviewer, Half-Canadian and Scooter the Wonder Dog and Wizard of Ooze. Laurie held many events and reviewed hundreds of caches. She liked helping people new to the game create caches that met the geocaching standards as well as seasoned folks get their caches reviewed in a timely way. It is a volunteer position that she took very seriously.
Laurie lived in various parts of the Pacific Northwesst, mostly in Washington State, and one of the places she lived was Mount Vernon. In the spring that town turns into Tulip Town, and the Tulip Festival is a big draw. This photo is from one of the visits my mom made during the Tulip Festival, and I can only imagine that my sister is acting to protect the tulips from the wind so mom could take a good photo. If you've never been its a really amazing sight, fields upon fields of gorgeous tulips. One of the reasons Laurie loved living in the PNW was all the beauty that was right in her backyard.
