Geocache Description:

** Do NOT go over barrier**

River Clyde is a river that flows into the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. It is the eighth-longest river in the United Kingdom, and the second-longest in Scotland. It runs through the major city of Glasgow. Historically, it was important to the British Empire because of its role in shipbuilding and trade.

Across the water,  to your left is the Riverside Museum, the first purpose-built museum created by Glasgow Life in the 21st century. Located at the junction of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde, it houses the city’s fabulous transport and technology collections, which have been gathered over the centuries and which reflect the important part Glasgow has played in the world through its contributions to heavy industries like shipbuilding, train manufacturing and engineering.

The museum was designed by internationally renowned architect, Dame Zaha Hadid. It opened in 2011 after a four-year build, with over 3,000 objects from the city's world-famous collections displayed inside.

Down the river to your right you'll see the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), which comprises of the SSE Hydro, SEC Armadillo and SEC Centre.

SEC Centre offers five interconnected exhibition and event halls with a combined area of over 22,000sqm.

The SEC Hydro has a capacity of 13,000, is Scotland’s home of live entertainment and is consistently ranked by Pollstar in the top 10 arenas globally.

Designed by world-renowned architects Foster + Partners, the SEC Armadillo is a Glasgow landmark with a unique style and practical, comfortable facilities for up to 3,000.
