Munro and Dennett Lake Hike
I recently hiked up to Dennett Lake and noticed the lack of caches on the way up so I decided to fill in a few of those empty spaces with a bit of variety. Dennett Lake is well worth visiting and perhaps a few more caches along the way might make it more worthwhile for geocachers to make the trek up. At the end of this hike you will find GCE2C - Dennett Lake Stash Cache which was place in June of 2001and is therefore one of the oldest active caches in BC,
Munro Lake and Dennett Lake are two beautiful lakes which can be accessed via a steep hike in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park, Coquitlam. The lakes are close to each other, although separated by about 120 meters of elevation. You first reach Munro Lake along the trail, and then carry on another 1 km to Dennett Lake. Between the two lakes there is an incredible viewpoint looking east. The hike up is quite steep and is rated as difficult. It can be quite muddy in the spring. The total distance is about 20 km return with an elevation gain of about 900 meters (2900 feet)
Cell service can be very spotty and you are in a wilderness area so be prepared. Bears are known to be in this area.
The GPS was very bouncy in these areas so I am giving a very detailed description of the cache hide to make it easier to make the find. All caches are within a meter or so of the trails.
