Welcome to one of the most fun adventures I've had in a while - I hope you enjoy it too!
Cane Creek Adventure is located on Army Corps of Engineers property that is adjacent to the Window Cliffs State Natural Area. (ACOE land is open for geocaches, whereas Natural Areas are not). Cane Creek flows into Center Hill Lake a short distance from here. You will have to park at and hike on part of Window Cliffs property. The first creek crossing of the Window Cliffs trail is actually on Corps property. When you reach the first crossing, don't cross - instead veer right and follow the creek. I have included several waypoints to get you to your destination.
If you are looking for complete solitude, this is the place! The few times I have hiked close to GZ, there has never been another living soul around. Most will continue to follow the 2.7 mile trail to Window Cliffs - which I highly recommend...but maybe not the same day you seek this cache. Unless you're in much better shape than me!
Please follow all posted rules for Window Cliffs since you have to utilize their parking and part of the trail. Hours are 8 am to 1 hour before sunset (generally, 5pm in winter and 6pm in summer). Pets are not allowed. Wear good hiking shoes. Take EXTREME caution as you are navigating the creek. YOU WILL GET WET so bring water shoes. The rocks are very slippery so I would not recommend wading barefoot - and I have the doctor bills/stitches/tetanus shot to back me up! The area is prone to flash flooding so use UTMOST CARE AND JUDGMENT when seeking this cache. It is not an easy grab!

*If you use my waypoint for where to cross the creek, this is the sight you will see. Follow the dry (well, mostly - depending on recent rains) creek bed to where you come back to flowing water.
*You have one more challenge - cross the creek again to begin your ascent. BE CAREFUL!'
*You're almost to GZ! Climb a little higher. Be careful especially if the flowing water is more than a trickle. It will be more treacherous after the rain.
You will be looking for an ammo can concealed on the left side (as you are looking up). A few feet higher, on the right side, you will notice a small sign on one of the trees marking the edge of Corps property.
There is a very nice gift inside the cache for FTF, swag items for trade, and some bags for you to CITO if you are so inclined. I've also included several ready-to-hide caches, so feel free to take one! However, I caution against hiding nearby unless you have studied the maps and are positive you are on Corps property.
Please enjoy your hiking and wading adventure!
