Geocache Description:

Getting so close to the end of this trail, you should know a bit more about the history of the base area.

There was a pre-Columbian era Indian presence throughout this area, dating back thousands of years.  With the coming of Europeans, a number of plantations were established, including one built by Thomas King along the bay in the 1890's.  After the Civil War the plantations were broken up and the land saw no commercial use for many years.  In 1954l the US Army acquired about 7,000 acres for the storage and shipment of ammunition in the event of an international conflict.  The nearby waters were dredged to creat a path to the sea for larger ships.  47 miles of railroad tracks were laid

Elsewhere on the base, the Army laid 47 miles (76 km) of railroad tracks. But the need for the huge stores of ammunition did not arize, and beginning in 1959 the property was turned over to a private shipping company, which used it for small shipments until the Navy acquisition for the sub base.

For this one you are looking for a painted pint-sized container.
