UPDATE: March 12, 2023--My ammo box, which appeared lost, was found and the substitute cache (a black restaurant container) has gone missing. This area is prone to water and flooding and I think that helpful geocachers have often moved it from its set location to keep it dry. This has made things confusing! I have cleaned up the cache, restocked it with swag and 2 travellers and will be replacing it. I will take a picture of where it goes (I know this makes it easy to find) so that it will go back to the place the coordinates indicate. Please don't move it from where you find it. I do monitor the cache and clean it up as needed.
NOTE: Please make sure that you pay attention to what you are taking because the cache might have both traditional swag and travel bugs Please don't take a travel bug unless you plan to move it along. If any are in the cache, they are in a separately labelled bag named "Travel Bug Accommodations." Help these travellers accomplish their travel goals!!!
PARKING: a short walk away near the corner of Arlington Boulevard and Ellenwood Drive. From there, walk along the foot path past the sign for Armistead Park until you see a path with exercise stops. Keep your "chin up" as you navigate and once you "step up" the path a bit, you will find the cache close by. Please make sure that you rehide the container where you found it and cover it with some natural camaflouge :)
This park is on the Fairfax County list of locations where no written permission is needed to hide geocaches. Please be respectful of the neighborhood across from the path and where you park your car. (i.e No night time caching:)
