Vis.a-vis siehst du die strände der Gänsehäufel-Insel.
Kannst du dir vorstellen, dass du vor ungefähr 150 Jahren eine große Sandbank mit Wald in der Mitte gesehen hättest. Diese Sandbänke wurden `Haufen`oder `Häufel`genannt. Die Menschen nutzten sie, um Gänse zu züchten. Das war vor der Regulierung der Donau um 1870. In heutiger Zeit ist das Gänshäufel ein Sommerbad der Stadt Wien. Der einzige Zugang auf die Insel führt über eine Brücke von Kaisermühlen aus.

Vis-a-vis you see the beaches of the Gänsehäufel-Island.
Can you imagine, about 150 years ago you would have seen a big sandbank with wood in the middle. The name of these sandbanks was `Haufen`or `Häufel`. People used to breed geese (Gänse) on some of these islands. This took place before the River Danube was regulated in the 1870`s. Nowadays the `Gänsehäufel`is a summerbath of the City of Vienna. The island is only accesable via a bridge from Kaisermühlen.
