Ah, the elusive five ratings... Not many around these parts! Obviously we don't have any gigantic mountains around here to have a five terrain rating, but I wanted to help everyone out with filling up the rare corners of their charts. Hence the idea for this cache: to give everyone a five difficulty, one terrain score. That is... if you can solve the puzzle...
One of my favorite movies is "Back to the Future". It starts off appropriately in the parking lot of a mall, and features a lot of nostalgia from my favorite decade - the 1980s. The hair, the music, the weird cars, the questionable fashion choices... and a small multicolored box that became all the rage.
That's right, folks...
To solve this cache, you will be required to solve a Rubik's Cube. You are looking for an ammo can containing the cache and a Rubik's Cube with many letters and numbers on all faces of the Cube. When you successfully solve the Cube, one side will clearly show the combination to the lock on the cache. This cache is very close to a lonely spot in the parking lot, so you will be able to take the cache to your car and spend as much time as you need in the privacy of your car to solve the Cube. There are many handy Websites and videos with instructions and tutorials on how to solve a Cube and everyone should have cell signal at this location, so feel free to explore the Internet for guides and how-to's.
A couple of notes:
- A lot of you may remember pulling the stickers off of your Cubes in frustration over the years. All faces of this Cube are solid plastic, so that will not work. Sorry!
- Make sure you mix up the Cube again before you leave! There is nothing tricky to this setup - regardless of how mixed up the Cube gets, it will always show the solution when solved.
- In keeping with the spirit of the difficulty rating, no pictures of the cube or hints at the solution in your logs! Feel free to share pictures and celebrate your success, just nothing that will help anyone cheat, please.
- Please remember to re-camo the cache when you are finished. It shouldn't be difficult to find.
Good luck to everyone, and enjoy the cache!
