Lago Bianco
Der Lago Bianco ist ein Stausee am Berninapass zwischen dem Valposchiavo und dem obersten Seitental des Engadins, dem Val Bernina, in der Schweiz. Er liegt damit auf der Grenze zwischen den Bernina- und Livigno-Alpen. (Wikipedia)
Früher bestanden im Gebiet des heutigen Stausees zwei natürlichen Seen: der grössere Lago Bianco, der seinen Namen dem milchigen Ausfluss des Cambrenagletschers verdankte, und der kleine, südlich anschliessende Lago della Scala. In den Lago Bianco mündeten mehrere kleine Bergbäche von den Höhen der Umgebung, so auch der Bach aus der Alpweide Lagalb, die ihren Namen dem See verdankt. Das Wasser floss vom Lago Bianco durch den Lago della Scala und aus diesem durch die Pilaschlucht in die Cavagliaalp hinunter, wo der Pilabach in den Fluss Cavagliasco mündete. (wikipedia)
Unmittelbar am Nordende des Lago Bianco liegt die kontinentale Wasserscheide zwischen den Einzugsgebieten des Po und des Inn-Donau- Flusssystems. Wenige Dutzend Meter nördlich des Lago Bianco liegt der Lago Nero am Oberlauf des Berninabaches.

Lago Bianco

There used to be two natural lakes in the area of today's reservoir: the larger Lago Bianco, which owes its name to the milky outflow of the Cambrena glacier, and the small Lago della Scala to the south. Several small mountain streams from the heights of the area flow into Lago Bianco, including the stream from the Lagalb alpine pasture, which owes its name to the lake. The water flowed from Lago Bianco through Lago della Scala and from there down through the Pila Gorge into the Cavagliaalp, where the Pilabach flows into the Cavagliasco River. (wikipedia)
Immediately at the northern end of Lago Bianco lies the continental watershed between the catchment areas of the Po and the Inn-Danube river system. A few dozen meters north of Lago Bianco is Lago Nero on the upper reaches of the Bernina stream.
