En gallbildning är ett slags skydd som bl.a. insekter tvingar en växt att bygga. Somliga galler ser ut som röda bär eller vårtor på växtblad. Syftet är att insektens larv ska kunna utvecklas därinne, väl skyddad mot fiender.
