Croydon, this is my town, not from birth, far from it, we moved in to our dream home, our retirement home the day before Christmas Day in 2017. Since then I have discovered more and more to this area that I really love, so I'm here for a long time now, well, I hope so anyway
I am placing a series of cache in and around the area to highlight the parks, walkways and places of interest in this part of Melbourne, I hope you enjoy your visit.
Croydon History
Owing to the coarse silvery-white grass, the area now known as Croydon was first called "White Flats". The Lacey family from Essex, England named the area Croydon after Mrs Lacey's hometown. They preferred this to Mr Lacey's hometown, Steeple Bumpstead. The Lacey family has a street named after them near the Main St. shopping precinct.
The Cache
There is lots of fun to be had around this playground area, gather these clues as you have a wander and play and then calculate the final location as detailed below.
Initial Coordinates:
A = Skippy the kangaroo is here with his possum mates, how many friends are there =
WP1 - Time Machine:
B = How many blue portholes are there? (Hint: look from the inside) =
WP2 - Observation Deck
C = How many orange seats are underneath the deck? =
WP3 - Foraging Beast:
D =
where, Elephant = 1, Wombat = 2, Unicorn = 3, Meerkat = 4.
WP4 - Climbing Beast:
E =
where, Snake = 5, Koala = 6, Possum = 7, Monkey = 8.
WP5 - Spire:
F = How many artists collaborated to create this spire? =
And now for some simple sums...
Q = A + C =
R = B + D -1 =
S = E - F - D =
T = A + D =
W = D + F =
X = E - D =
Y = B - F - D =
Z = C + C =

Checksum: South = 35 East = 29

Might as well put this time to some good use...
