Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd president of the United States of America. He is most well known for writing the Declaration of Independence, the Louisiana Purchase, and being on the $2 bill.
This cache will be a bit like being a part of the Corp of Discovery that Thomas Jefferson sent out to discover a way to the Pacific Ocean.
There are two ways to find this cache. The harder way may be the quicker way, though that is what the Corp of Discovery thought as well. Follow the directions below to find the cache.

From the posted coordinates, follow the trail north to this spot. |

From point 2, make your way to point 3. As you do, you will pass this bench. There is a plaque on the bench, you need the following information from that plaque:
A = # of V's in 2nd line
Z = # of letters in the 1st word of last line |

Once you reach point 3, follow the path to point 6. You are going to pass two benches. The first one is this one. Get the following info:
B = # of A's in 1st line
Y = # of letters in the last word of last line |

The second bench you will pass going from point 3 to 6 is this one. Get the following info:
C = # of B's in last line
X = # of total letters in 1st line, minus 1 |

Next, hike to this sign. |

Lewis and Clark often took much longer routes due to the exploratory nature of their expedition. Hike from point 11 to point 10, but take the long way (loop). When you do, you will two benches. Get the following info from the second bench:
D = # of letters in the last word of 1st line
W = # of letters in the first word of 2nd line |

Now that you have all of the info, you can go find the cache.
Go to N 43 0A.BCD
W 086 0W.XYZ
At that location (pictured to the right) you will find a telescope of sorts. Follow the view from that telescope to the east about 20 paces and you will find the cache at the base of a tree.
