Im doing this cache series based on some of my experiences while geocaching. Ive had some pretty awesome experiences! And ive also had some that almost landed me in jail... I think .. Haha SO here's cache #1 in my series ID like to call
Have you ever heard of geocaching?
At the beginning of 2021 i made myself a goal, to locate 100 caches within the year. My two oldesr boys (10 and 7) were excited to help me accomplish this goal.
One fine evening we were in center ridge trying to locate a cache right off the side of hwy 9. My GPS had done led us down the dirt road away from the cache so we had to turn around to get back to the hwy. Doing so we passed a little car, twice. The second time passing it i noticed thw woman behind the wheel was staring pretty hard. Nothing new, ive noticed people tend to stare sometimes when im out caching. We park off the side of the road, search a bit, no luck on finding. So we decide we shall move onto the next.
I notice the same car now passing me and pulling onto the highway.
we go to another cache just a mile or so down hwy 9. My kids jump out ahead of me and run straight to the cache. (A camoed pill bottle) as im signing the log a police officer pulls up behind me.
GREEEAAAT
he gets out and walks towards me stating he got a call about a suspicious vehicle matching the description of mine. And proceeds to ask me about the camouflage pill bottle im holding.
GRRRREEEAT
i then say, "well sir, have you ever heard of geocaching?"
He scoffs and says no.
i then try to explain.
he looks at my kids and asks them what we are doing today and they to try to explain. He takes the cache from me and inspects it.
after taking my information and checking on it he hands me back the cache and tells me to have a good day.
ppppheeewww! That one could have gone worse!
My kiddos sure did laugh hard at that one. The confusion that officer had painted across his face was priceless!
Ive placed this cache in a kinda tricky hiding place. I enjoy making them kind of hard to find so if you need help just let me know!
And if by some chance This cache stays up and going years after my time I hope my kids find comfort in these caches and remembering all of the small memories we created together. Geocaching will forever and always be "our thing"
