Geocache Description:

BYOP

The posted coordinates will take you to the pedestrian entry point for the original Koremata Station.  The station was built here when the new wider Caversham Tunnel was dug to accommodate a duel line for commuter trains in 1910.  Some confusion began with the station names as Green Island Siding was not a commuter station, Burnside station was close to Green Island and this station, Koremata Station was closer to Burnside.  Common sense eventually prevailed when Green Island siding was renamed to Geddes, Burnside was renamed to Green Island and the station here was renamed Burnside.

Infront of you are 2 sections of fencing of the bridge that look different.  This was were a pedestrian ramp lead down to the train station situated below.  The ramp and station are now gone as commuter services ceased operations in 1982.

To find the cache you need to answer some questions.  The answers can be found on or in between the 2 large pillars of the bridge you are standing on.

The coordinates of the cache can be found at

S 45° 5S.TUV' E 170° 2W.XYZ'

where:

a = the number of bolts on top of the handrail

b = the number of vertical rounded bars

c = the number of vertical "T" beams

d = the number of vertical "L" beams

e = the number of rounded horizontal bars (number of individual pieces)

fgh = the number on the yellow and blue tag on the right hand side pillar

j = the number of pieces of timber that make up the length of the handrail

and,

S = (b-d)/(j+1)

T = c+g-d

U = e-h

V = (a-f)/j

W = a-e

X = c-h

Y = h+d*g

Z = b-h-f

Checksum S to Z is 45
