Portal de San Vicent
El santo que aparece incrustado en la fachada de esta casa es Sant Vicent. Hay más santos como este por todo el casco antiguo (Santa Teresa, San Josep y Sant Antoni), que marcan las antiguas entradas del casco antiguo de La Nucía. A este en concreto llegaba la gente que venía de Altea. La función de estos santos era bendecir a los vecinos del antiguo poblado y preservarlos de las pestes y otras plagas. Junto a la imagen está la entrada al “carreró de Sant Vicent”, callejón sin salida, que concluye en un mirador hacia la huerta y el mar.
The saint that appears embedded in the facade of this house is Sant Vicent. There are more saints like this all over the old town (Santa Teresa, San Josep and Sant Antoni), which mark the old entrances to the old town of La Nucía. The people who came from Altea came to this one in particular. The function of these saints was to bless the neighbors of the old town and preserve them from pests and other plagues.
