Geocache Description:

10 YEARS LOST SERIES
This series of stand-alone caches looks back at the first ten years of Lost2011's caches - 10 Years Lost. The geocaches chosen in this series hold strong memories for me, are creative, and have given me the most enjoyment, and I hope you have experienced similar too.

BOURNEMOUTH AT WAR SERIES
This is the 32nd and final cache in the ‘Bournemouth At War’ series, which to date, has brought myself the most enjoyment of all the series I have created. I learnt so much from the research I undertook, which saw 31 caches produced covering historical events from World War 2 in Bournemouth. The series started in September 2016, with Queen's Park Ice Skating, which is one of six still being found today.

December 2017 was when I stopped the series, with five stories that remained untold due to a lack of suitable locations at the time to place a cache, and this always bugged me as the series felt incomplete. I have never before dabbled in the fairly recent Adventure Lab Caches, and had been sitting on a credit for half a year wondering how to use it, and what theme to choose, when suddenly it became obvious that I could finally complete the series with this Adventure Lab cache, providing virtual locations with a physical bonus cache to find once all the clues had been revealed. Please enjoy this Adventure Lab cache which will see you covering a small area of southern Bournemouth.

Once completed, please leave a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review. 👍🏻

THE FINAL FIGURES
During the war Bournemouth fared better than many large towns. There were only 51 air raids, dropping some 2,271 bombs. The bombing resulted in 168 civilian deaths and 507 injured. 182 servicemen were killed and 401 people had been made homeless, according to official figures published by The Bournemouth Times on 8th December 1944. Damage to buildings was also relatively slight with 246 properties being totally destroyed or needing to be demolished in all 13,000 buildings were damaged. The only major buildings destroyed were Beales department store, the Punshon Memorial Church and West’s Cinema, as well as the Central and Metropole Hotels.
