Geocache Description:

We would like to thank David McPheely of Blaby District council for allowing us to hide this set of caches at Fosse Meadows.

Fosse Meadows was opened to the public on the 16th April 1987 by the then Chair of Blaby District Council Mrs K. Hall.  It comprises of a mixture of woodland and meadows that is located adjacent to the old Roman road, The Fosse Way. It is a popular location for people walking and there is a large childrens play area. Below is a picture of one of the Fosse Foxes that have been located in some of the local attractions in the Blaby Area.

The site was once farmland owned by Henry Archer and was purchased in the late 1980's by Blaby Council.  Over many years it has been converted into the diverse landscape that can be seen today.  Apart from the meadows and woodland area there is also a wetland area where birds can be observed from the birdhides. The car park entrance is accessed from the old Fosse Way which is the old road linking Exeter to Lincoln.  The section from High Cross, where the Fosse Way crosses Watling Street (A5), to Stoney Bridge, where the Fosse rejoins the main road to Leicester (B4116), is little more than either single tracked road or a bridleway.

During the Winter months walking boots or Wellingtons are recommended as some areas of Fosse Meadows can get very muddy. We hope you enjoy your ramble around Fosse Meadows spurred on by locating the caches we have hidden here.
