Geocache Description:

GOING BATTY #14

Welcome to my new Bat caches.  When I lived in Missouri during the summer of 2003, I worked at Ozark Caverns within Lake of The Ozarks State Park. Ozark Caverns has remained mostly natural as there is no lighting installed in the caves, which makes it a great habitat for bats.  I learned quite a bit about bats and wanted to create a few bat puzzle caches: the "Bump In The Night" for Snag The Tag is the perfect time to do it too.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

Bat Fact #14

Evolutionary Origin of Bats

Bat skeletons are small and light, and as a result do not fossilize easily. There is therefore relatively little fossil evidence of early bats. Not much is known about their evolutionary history and how an early, four-legged terrestrial mammal evolved wings and the ability to fly.

Puzzle:

The oldest-known bat species is Icaronycteris index. A complete fossil of this early bat was found in the Green River formation of what U.S. State?
