Welcome to Tinos island. Tinos is famous amongst Greeks for the Church of Panagia Evangelistria and its 80 or so windmills.
You have ascended the hill and you are more than likely astonished by the view.
You are in the area of Pasakrotiri.
From up here you can see the town of Tinos, the church of Mother Mary, the port, a handful of villages and a few of the neighbouring islands scattered in the vast blue expanse of the Aegean Sea.
You are standing next to the Memorial of the Victims of Balkan War which was designed by the Finian architect Giorgos Evgeniou.
The names of the victims from each borough are engraved on its four sides, which represent the four Boroughs the island used to be divided into.
