Puerto de Mogán
Puerto de Mogán se encuentra en la costa suroeste de Gran Canaria y, según algunos, ¡tiene el mejor clima del mundo!
El complejo original de Puerto Mogán, fue construido en la década de 1980, a veces llamado la "Venecia de las Canarias", es el complejo más pintoresco de la isla de Gran Canaria. El desarrollo de bloques de apartamentos de dos pisos construidos alrededor de un nuevo puerto deportivo y pesquero, implicó la construcción de la línea de costa existente utilizando roca de los acantilados en el extremo occidental del pueblo original.
Las terrazas de la azotea están adornadas con buganvillas y otras plantas gloriosamente coloridas y el área está salpicada de jardines de plátanos y papayas, palmeras y plantas de aves del paraíso.
La playa y el valle
La playa dorada es de arena importada del Sahara y está orientada al sur. Está protegido del mar abierto por un rompeolas rocoso, lo que lo hace ideal para nadar de forma segura y fácil, y hay tumbonas, sombrillas, pedales, canoas y motos acuáticas para alquilar. Fuera del área cerrada es bueno para aquellos que son más aventureros y les gusta bucear.
El desarrollo más nuevo detrás de la playa, que se extiende entre los lados rocosos escarpados del valle, incluye nuevos hoteles y complejos de apartamentos de lujo, algunos con excelentes vistas del valle hacia las montañas o sobre la playa y el mar, los acantilados y el puerto deportivo.
El Puerto de Mogán está repleto de excelentes restaurantes que sirven pescado local desembarcado en el puerto pesquero y otras especialidades canarias e internacionales. Tiene varios bancos y supermercados, y tiendas que venden ropa, recuerdos, joyas y mucho más. Si desea un corte de pelo o un tatuaje, hay una selección de salones o estudios, y la mayoría de los cafés y bares tienen wifi gratuito, aunque se espera que al menos tome un café o un vaso de cerveza fría.
Para aquellos que quieren un poco más de emoción que simplemente tumbarse en la playa tomando el sol o pasar el tiempo en un café junto a la playa, hay motos acuáticas de alquiler, parascending, clases de buceo, excursiones de pesca deportiva y viajes en submarino alrededor de un naufragio local. Y para los menos enérgicos, viajes de avistamiento de delfines o viajes en ferry a Puerto Rico, la playa de Anfi del Mar y Arguineguín.
Yachting y navegación
Puerto de Mogán cuenta con excelentes instalaciones para "yates" ya sea que necesiten solo amarres temporales o un amarre permanente en el puerto deportivo, reparaciones de barcos y servicio. ¡A algunos marineros que atracan aquí les gusta tanto que nunca se van!

Puerto de Mogán
Puerto de Mogan is on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria and according to some, has the best climate in the world!
The original resort of Puerto Mogan, was built in the 1980s, sometimes called the "Venice of the Canaries" it is the most picturesque resort on the island of Gran Canaria. The development of two-storey apartment blocks built around a new marina and fishing harbour, involved building out from the existing shore line using rock from the cliffs at the western end of the original village.
The roof terraces are festooned with bougainvillea and other gloriously colourful plants and the area is dotted with gardens of banana and papaya trees, palms and bird-of-paradise plants.
The beach and valley
The golden beach is of sand imported from the Sahara and faces south. It's protected from the open sea by a rocky breakwater, which makes it ideal for safe and easy swimming, and there are sunloungers, parasols, pedaloes, canoes and jet skis for hire. Outside the enclosed area is good for those who are more adventurous and like to snorkel.
The newer development behind the beach, stretching up between the steep rocky sides of the valley includes new hotels and luxury apartment complexes, some with great views up the valley towards the mountains or over the beach and of the sea, cliffs and marina.
Puerto de Mogan is packed with excellent restaurants serving local fish landed at the fishing harbour and other Canarian and international specialities. It has several banks and supermarkets, and shops selling clothes, souvenirs, jewellery and much more. If you want a haircut or a tattoo, there is a choice of salons or studios, and most cafés and bars have free wifi, though you will be expected to at least have a coffee or a cold glass of beer.
For those who want a bit more excitement than just lying on the beach soaking up the rays or whiling away the time at a beach-side cafe, there are jet skis for hire, parascending, scuba diving lessons, sport fishing excursions and submarine trips round a local wreck. And for the less energetic, dolphin spotting trips or ferry trips to Puerto Rico, the beach at Anfi del Mar and Arguineguín.
Yachting and boating
Puerto de Mogan has excellent facilities for "yachties" whether they need just temporary moorings or a permanent berth in the marina, boat repairs and servicing. Some sailors docking here like it so much that they never leave!
