The one thing that is special about Geocaching is the people you meet and the friends that you make as we wander in search of scraps of paper scattered throughout the world. You sometimes meet other cachers on the trail or at various events and perhaps you join up with others and become teammates to go on caching adventures.
Two of my ' teammates' have reached a major milestone and did it independently on the same day. If you happen to be a beginning cacher you start with goals such as finding your first, fiftieth or the magical 1000th cache. Perhaps you are hoping to find a cache each day of a calendar year or to advance that goal to caches of certain types or sizes each day. There are many ways to torture ourselves.
Thus far my teammates have completed many such goals but this goal is difficult. Both have completed a goal that is the same for beginning runners. They have finished a 5K!!!! Finding that number of hides places them in the top 5% for experienced cachers worldwide (a statistic counting only cachers that have found at least 200).
This cache and a sister cache nearby (A 5K Tribute West) is to honor these well-known members of our local caching community.
Both cachers have been known to lose footwear on the trail by getting mired in mud just a bit too deep. Both have hosted multiple great events and each has placed many fun caches. Each has earned many favorite points for their hides. Both are avid readers.
This hide is to honor a cacher that everyone knows as being ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and her caching name proves it. Also being an avid kayaker, she has placed many water caches locally and will travel long distances in search of caches of this type. As soon as the boat attribute cache is posted it is on her list to seek very soon. This magically find was on July 16, 2021, when she found 'Of Cobblestones and Other Beach Treasures E.Cache' GC1WM53.
Perhaps the most significant difference between the time to reach the cacher’s goal and the runner’s goal is the time it takes to complete the task. From start to finish this cacher took 79000 times longer than the runner to attain the goal. Caching is just 79000 times more fun.
She has 167 hides as of now and has amassed 1087 favorite points.

Each hide is a small camoed (180 mL ) Wegmans Lock and Lock and might fit small trackables. Bring your own pen to sign the log.
No need to wander off the trail into private property to make this find but you might have to search well.
