Szwedzki zespół muzyczny Sabaton, wykonujący muzykę z pogranicza power i metalu, w swej twórczości porusza głównie tematykę wojny i bohaterstwa ludzi w nią wplątanych. W Polsce zyskał popularność piosenką „40:1”, opowiadającą o obronie Wizny w 1939 r. W swojej dyskografii zespół ma jednak więcej utworów poświęconych Polakom, którzy w wielu miejscach i w wielu bitwach przelewali swą krew.
Różnie można oceniać muzykę Sabatonu, to już zależy od indywidualnych gustów. Nie da się jednak zaprzeczyć, że niekiedy jedna dobra piosenka może być więcej warta niż czterdzieści nudnych lekcji historii w szkole.

Sabaton is a Swedish metal band, singing mostly about wars and the heroism of people involved in them. In Poland they gained popularity with their song "40: 1" about the battle of Wizna in 1939, where Polish soldiers bravely defended a fortified line against vastly larger German forces. Although defeat was inevitable, the Polish defence managed to stop the attacking forces for three days. Eventually, German tanks broke through the Polish line and German explosive engineers eliminated all the bunkers one by one. One of the symbols of the battle is Captain Władysław Raginis, the commanding officer of the Polish forces, who swore to hold his position as long as he was alive. When the last bunkers ran out of ammunition, he ordered his men to surrender and then killed himself by exploding a grenade.
In the discography of Sabaton you will find more songs about Polish soldiers, who shed their blood in many places and in many battles. You may like or dislike Sabaton's music, it depends on individual tastes, but there's no doubt that sometimes one good song can teach you more than forty boring history lessons at school.
