Geocache Description:

GOING  BATTY #20

Welcome to my new Bat caches.  When I lived in Missouri during the summer of 2003, I worked at Ozark Caverns within Lake of The Ozarks State Park. Ozark Caverns has remained mostly natural as there is no lighting installed in the caves, which makes it a great habitat for bats.  I learned quite a bit about bats and wanted to create a few bat puzzle caches: the "Bump In The Night" for Snag The Tag is the perfect time to do it too.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

Bat Fact #20

Most of the microbats, as well as some species of megabat, use echolocation to detect prey and obstacles in their environment while hunting at night.

These bats send out a stream of very loud clicks. The sounds bounce off structures and return to the bat in the form of echoes, helping the bat to build up a ‘picture’ of its surroundings.
