Geocache Description:

GOING  BATTY #43

Welcome to my new Bat caches.  When I lived in Missouri during the summer of 2003, I worked at Ozark Caverns within Lake of The Ozarks State Park. Ozark Caverns has remained mostly natural as there is no lighting installed in the caves, which makes it a great habitat for bats.  I learned quite a bit about bats and wanted to create a few bat puzzle caches: the "Bump In The Night" for Snag The Tag is the perfect time to do it too.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

Bat Fact #43

"Batnado"

Bracken Cave, 20 miles outside of San Antonio, is the summer home to 15 million Mexican Free-tailed bats. Each night, the bats swarm out of the cave in a “batnado“ in search of food.  "Batnados" are when the bats emerge from their in a circular  motion, similar to a tornado.  I have witnessed this phenomenon at Old Tunnel State Park near Fredericksburg, Texas.
