Geocache Description:

The Park

Lake Hula and the marshland surrounding it were a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying malaria, and so were drained in the 1950s. A small section of the valley was later re-flooded in an attempt to revive a nearly extinct ecosystem. An estimated 500 million migrating birds now pass through the Hula Valley every year. - Wikipedia

All year around the Hula Lake Park is teaming with wildlife. The day I hid this cache I spotted Water Buffalo, Coypu, Cranes, Pelicans, Flamingos, and many more birds, reptiles, and others.

This multi-cache will take you around the park. You may do this trail by foot, bring your own bicycle (not electric), or rent at the entrance a golf cart or bike.

In the summer bring plenty of water.

Opening Hours

Sunday - Thursday: 8:00-17:00, exit by 18:30

Friday - Saturday: 6:30-17:00, exit by 18:30

Notice: The park is maintained by KKL-JNF and there is an entrance fee. See details in their website: agamon-hula.co.il.

Finding the Cache

In order to find the cache you'll have to visit these waypoints and answer questions once you get there.

The Botanical Garden (N 33° 6.538' E 35° 35.523')

Here you'll find a plant with an interesting etymology. The explanation is in hebrew, but the plant's name also appears in English (and in Latin).

A,B = How many letters are there in the two words of its Latin name?

The Southern Lookout (N 33° 5.839' E 35° 36.692')

Along the rim of the lookout there are 7 signs explaining about some of the birds you may see from here.

C = How tall (in centimeters) is the tallest bird?
D = What is the minimal wingspan of the shortest bird? (the wingspan range appears on the left of each sign)

The Pelican Lookout (N 33° 6.493' E 35° 36.652')

In the entrance to the lookout there's a stone plaque mentioning who donated this structure (a community from abroad). Underneath the Hebrew description there's also a description in their native language.

F = How many letters are in the first line (first line not in Hebrew)?
G = How many words are in the third line (third line not in Hebrew)?

Final

X = A * C + B - D - 1
Y = 45 * F + G

You'll find the cache here: N 33° 6.{X}' E 35° 34.{Y}'

In case you're not sure about some of the questions, know that their sum ends with 4. In other words:

A + B + C + D + F + G = ??4
