This nano is relaxing on the down low after a nice bike ride near the Lake, Convention Center, Oakland Museum of California, and Laney College. Across the street from the cache, you'll see part of Laney College. Laney College is a Community College that developed out of two Oakland institutions from the 1920s: The Central Trade School (1927)--later renamed the Joseph C. Laney Trade and Technical Institute--and the Merritt School of Business (1929), now known as Merritt College. The current campus, across from where you are now, provided you are near GZ of course, opened in 1970. If you look on Google Maps, you may see a street view of a tent city; this is gone, although there are encampments behind the lake. I haven't had any issues; it's usually students, bicyclists, and exercisers passing by. That said, always be aware of your surroundings. There is ample parking nearby. Bring a pen.
