The Golden Ears Bridge is a six-lane extradosed bridge. It connects Langley and Surrey on the south side with Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge on the north side. The bridge opened to traffic on June 16, 2009, replacing the Albion Ferry several kilometers upstream.
It is the longest extradosed bridge in North America, which is a type of bridge that combines the main elements of both a prestressed box girder bridge and a cable-stayed bridge, which allows for both shorter pylons than on a cable-stayed design, and a more shallow bridge deck than on a typical box girder design.
As such, extradosed bridges sport a slender look and are aesthetically pleasing, and the Golden Ears Bridge is no exception herein.
For this Multi, I suggest you start at the posted coordinates on the south side, and make your way north on the bike/pedestrian path that's on the east side of the bridge. Cycling the route is an excellent option. Whether you cycle of walk, always be aware of path traffic coming from both sides.
Stop at the waypoints below, and gather the information, then calculate the final coordinates for this multi cache.
The cache can be found at: N49 AB.CDE W122 FG.HIJ
Checksum: A+B+C+D+E = 23 and F+G+H+I+J = 17
Enjoy the views from the bridge.
Depending on the weather, you may be treated to the smells of the sewage treatment plant below the south side of the bridge.
Cache is a short walk from where you exit the bridge on the north side.
