Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series created by the Office of the State Geologist, the others being located at MacArthur Park, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, and Petit Jean Mountain State Park. Inside this one you will find information about the state rock, state mineral, and state gem of Arkansas! As a special prize for the first to find, there is a physical sample of the state rock and the state mineral (Sorry, no state gem!) that you can take with you, or leave behind for others to see. For those that come later, there is a page describing each one.

This cache is hidden in the amphitheater on the grounds of the Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment. There is ample parking and a short sidewalk to get you there. Container is camouflaged and about the size of a deck of cards. If you stand in the center of the dais and bear N 65° E, you should run right into it. After you sign the log book, please re-seal and re-hide to keep the fun going. Thank-you!

Congrats to Razorback01 on the First To Find! Much thanks also to Saint Aubie for the First Attempt!

05-23-2023 MAINTENANCE PERFORMED! As a special prize for the Next to Find, there is a physical sample of the state rock and state mineral for you to take with you—or leave for someone else to find!

03-11-2024 MAINTENANCE PERFORMED! Since several containers have been compromised by water, I moved this cache to higher ground and adjusted the coordinates accordingly. As usual, I restocked the state rock and mineral samples so congratulations to the Next to Find!
