After taking a 11.5 year hiatus from Geocaching, I decided to do some one day. I had some business that took me down to Conyers, Georgia. On the way back, I stopped at a grocery store parking lot in Tucker, Georgia, downloaded the Geocaching app, then searched for a hide. It turned out to be what is known down in Georgia as 'Lamp post skirts (LPS)'. This hide was the first of a total of 6 that I found that day.
I started back into the hobby that day.
I know that some new Geocachers are fooled by them, but I found it immediately.
Many lamp posts have a cover that is designed to cover the bolts that secure the lamp post to the cement foundation. In many cases, these covers - or skirts - lift up. There is space for a small or micro container.
At the time, I thought it was a clever idea. I didn't know that many hides are hidden in this fashion.
There is nothing like the sight of the sun reflecting off the side of a lamp post early in the morning!
