The cache is located outside the Egill Olafsson Museum, in the old US Navy Douglas. You don’t have to climb or remove anything, the access is quite easy !
About the plane :
This particular example of a C-117D was decommissioned at the airfield in Keflavik. The plane was donated to the Folk Museum in 2004 when the Keflavik airfield was closed.
All parts of the airplane are present at the museum, but unfortunately the plane is in a bit of a sorry state since the wings, engines, props, and tail are not actually attached to the main body of the aircraft. More informations about this plane...

The museum is based on Egill Olafsson collection. Egill Olafsson as gathered his whole life a lot of items of the daily life. You can find a bunch of objects about farming, fishing, clothes…
When we visited the museum, we saw a very interessing film by Óskar Gíslason about the rescue of a british trawler at Latrabjarg cliff in 1949. You can watch it here.
The museum is open from 1st june to 30th september but you can look after the cache all the time !
