Once upon a time, a geocacher who was interested in seeing the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) had to travel to Seattle. But beginning several years ago, GIFF events were held around the world, and they will be again this year. Once again, you can view the finalist films right here in Marysville.
Geocaching.com has extended the invitation to host a Geocaching International Film Festival event. Cachers worldwide are hosting geocaching events at which these films will be shown publicly for the first time. The City of Marysville Parks & Recreation department, in conjunction with the WSGA Parks Liaison Program, has graciously allowed me to rent the Rotary Ranch, a relatively new facility in Jennings Park, that they don't normally rent. In it are two nicely sized TV screens, chairs, and other accoutrements. Come join other geocachings, your friends, and neighbors, in your neighborhood (more or less) and watch how creative some geocachers are. An entertaining time is sure to be had.
About this event:
- What? 2021 Geocaching International Film Festival
- When? Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00a, altho the doors will probably open sooner. The show will start promptly by 10:15am, and last about an hour.
- Where? Jennings Park, Marysville, WA, in the Rotary Ranch. It's where the petting zoo used to be, but it has been renovated for classes and the like. Come dressed for cold temperatures. It's probable one or more large, garage sized doors will be open for ventilation.
- Who? Anybody -- really! It makes no difference if you geocache or not - you are most welcome to join us in the fun. However, those under 18 years of age need to have one of their adults to keep track of them. (Not it!)
- Why? Well, why not?

- Were you wondering what happened to 2020's GIFF? As you may know, it took a break. Instead, HQ gave us 'The Very Best of GIFF: 7 Years of Geocaching Filmmaking' - it can be seen HERE.
- Yes, there is a GIFF souvenir - earn it by discovering the special trackable code in the film.
- There are at least two geocaches in reasonable proximity to the event.
- I could do with help to set up before, and close down when we're done. If you're available, let me know.
- There will be a logbook available. Please bring a writing tool (purple preferred) as they may not be provided.
- I'm hoping to hold a raffle. Depending on the number of attendees we have, donations will be gratefully accepted. One FREE! ticket per person, and you must be present to win.
