Vietas apraksts: No Vecrīgas nākot, Mežtakas marķējums izmet loku pa gājēju tiltu pāri Zemitānu dzelzceļa stacijai un turpinās pa Biķernieku un Šmerļa mežu. No Zemitānu stacijas gājēju tilta iespējams vērot ne tikai caurbraucošos vilcienus, te paveras arī plaša ainava uz stacijas ēku un padomju laikos izveidotajām ražošanas platībām, kuras mūsdienās pārveidotas par tirdzniecības un biroju centriem. Zemitāna tilts un tam līdzās esošā dzelzceļa stacija nosaukti par godu latviešu pulkvedim, III šķiras Lāčplēša Kara ordeņa kavalierim Jorģim Zemitānam. Virzoties prom no centra, mēs nonākam vietā, kur sākas Ieriķu iela. Ieriķu iela ierīkota 20. gadsimta 30. gados dzīvokļu kooperatīva "Savs stūrītis" teritorijā no Zemitānu dzelzceļa stacijas līdz Ūnijas ielas krustojumam.

Slēpnis ir daļa no slēpņu sērijas „MEŽTAKA”. Mežtaka ir Eiropas garās distances pārgājienu maršruta E11 daļa Baltijas valstīs, kas ved cauri Latvijas, Lietuvas un Igaunijas skaistākajiem mežiem un nacionālajiem parkiem. Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmā no Vecrīgas līdz Igaunijas robežai, kurš izstrādāts ar Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda Centrālā Baltijas jūras reģiona pārrobežu sadarbības programmas 2014.–2020. gadam finansiālu atbalstu, izvietoti 45 slēpņi. Iesakām apvienot slēpņu meklēšanu ar pastaigu pa kādu no 15 ainaviskajiem Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmiem.

Description of the place: When coming from the Old Town of Riga, the markers of the Forest Trail leads you across the pedestrian bridge over Zemitāni railway station to Biķernieki and Šmerlis forests. From the pedestrian bridge of the railway station, it is possible not only to watch the passing trains, but also to see a vast landscape on the buildings of the station and the production areas created during the Soviet time, which have been transformed into commercial and office centres. Zemitāni Bridge and the railway station adjacent to it have been named after Latvian colonel, the bearer of the Lāčplēsis Military Order of the 3rd Degree Jorģis Zemitāns. As we move away from the center, we arrive to the point where Ieriķu Street begins. Ieriku Street was created in 1930s in the area of the apartment co-op “The Corner”, stretching from Zemitani railway station to the intersection of Ūnijas Street.

The geocache is part of the “MEŽTAKA” series of geocaches. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which runs through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. In the northern part of the Forest Trail created with the financial support of the Transborder Cooperation Programme for 2014–2020 of the European Regional Development Fund for the Central Baltic Sea Region 45 geocaches have been deployed between the Old Riga and the Estonian border. We recommend combining the geocache search with a walk through one of the 15 landscape sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
