Dugongs Under Threat
Dugong numbers have dropped in the Southern Great Barrier Reef over the last ten years. Action is underway to address this decline. Threats include mesh netting, seagrass decline, shark netting and boat strikes.
The waters surrounding Townsville are a Santuary for Dugongs. Please care them for and their seagrass habitat.
